Expenses & Required Documentation

Eligible nonprofits can request grant funding up to a maximum amount of $50,000. Your application must demonstrate that your organization has incurred eligible expenses equaling or exceeding the amount of grant funding you are requesting.

Grant funding can be used to reimburse previously unbudgeted expenses incurred between March 1, 2020 and October 1, 2021 related to:

  • organization/agency emergency needs due to the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic; and/or
  • specific programmatic needs/objectives related to offering community programs and services specifically for pandemic response and recovery.

For example, NPS grants may support activities such as, but not limited to:

  • Planning and development of new COVID-19 related programs or reimagining or revision of existing programs
  • New (unbudgeted) staff and operational costs associated with COVID-19 relief programs
  • Technical or consulting needs related to digital transition or access
  • Strategic planning or capacity building activities related to coronavirus impacts.

Please note: All NPS grant funds must be used for expenses associated with COVID-19 response and recovery efforts. This is particularly important for applicants to keep in mind when determining what organizational expenses can be included in your request. All expenses must be COVID-19 relief related. It is also important to make this distinction when considering other funding you may have received or applied for as NPS grant funds must not overlap with other federal funds or grant awards. This is a reimbursement program and documentation of expenses encumbered is required.
